Brendan Gleeson joins the cast of "Joker: Folie à Deux"

Veteran actor Brendan Gleeson has been set to join the cast of the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux. Gleeson joins already announced members Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. No word has been said on whether Gleeson will be portraying an established or original character.

It's also been announced that Zazie Beetz will also be returning for the sequel as she reprises the same role from the original.

Todd Phillips will again be serving as director and co-writer (with Scott Silver.) Production is expected to commence this December, with a release date set for October 4, 2024.

Gleeson will be next seen in Martin McDonagh's The Banshees of Inisherin, which will world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Phoenix recently finished filming on both Ari Aster's Disappointment Blvd. and Ridley Scott's Napoleon, both of which are expected to be released in 2023.
