Updated Predictions for the Telluride Film Festival Lineup
With the Venice Film Festival announcing their full lineup earlier this week and TIFF announcing today their Gala and Special Presentation lineup, the list of films bound for the Telluride Film Festival is getting clearer by the day.
As is tradition, the festival does not officially announce their lineup until the day before the festival begins on Labor Day weekend. But with Venice director Alberto Barbera leaking that TÁR, Bones & All, and Bardo are going to Telluride, as well as TIFF providing premiere statuses for all their announced films, you can assemble a robust list of films that have a high likelihood of making the trek up the mountains.
From those clues, I’ve broken down each film expected to show up to Telluride into distinct categories:
Venice to Telluride:
Bardo (Alejandro González Iñárritu)
Bones & All (Luca Guadagnino)
TÁR (Todd Field)
White Noise (Noah Baumbach)
Telluride World Premieres
Empire of Light (Sam Mendes)
Good Night Oppy (Ryan White)
Nanny (Nikyatu Jusu)
See How They Run (Tom George)
She Said (Maria Schrader)
The Pale Blue Eye (Scott Cooper)
The Return of Tanya Tucker: Featuring Brandi Carlile (Kathlyn Horan)
The Wonder (Sebastián Lelio)
Women Talking (Sarah Polley)
Cannes Films on Tour
Aftersun (Charlotte Wells)
Armageddon Time (James Gray)
Broker (Hirokazu Kore-eda)
Holy Spider (Ali Abbasi)
One Fine Morning (Mia Hansen-Løve)
The Telluride picture will be even more clear once TIFF announces more films in the coming days and weeks.
